Hello! Thank you for reading all of my thoughts so far. I’m launching something — well, maybe two things — that I’m incredibly excited about!
1: digi-journal!
Some of you might have already tried this out if I sent drafts to you, but here it is for real now: https://joelleneyap.github.io/quartz/
That website is going to be many things for me: a second brain, a digital journal, a public portfolio of writing, a long-term passion project, etc. And I hope that it changes as I change, and grows as I grow!
Built on Obsidian and Jacky Zhao’s Quartz, it visualizes each atomic note as a node in an interconnected network, like a neural nets or a brain! This is what it looks like on my local copy:
There’s a myriad of things already on there: books and clippings of books that inspire me, motifs or concepts that keep popping up in my life and my practice, all of the essays that have made it out onto this substack, and even — embarrassing, but I’m determined for this to be public — my old film reviews when I used to run a film review Youtube channel.
This is an invitation to you, especially my friends, to step through this digital space I’ve made for myself! Wander through it as you would a garden, instead of the algorithmic feeds that dominate our online experience. If it feels like too much, start here.
2: sneak-peek!
I’m working on an interactive visualization of fandom networks on AO3! I’m thinking about this like a ‘thesis project’ from the work I was doing with my DSxAO3 series on here (which is also cross-posted to my personal website). Here’s a little taste of the cross-over fandoms associated with the Haikyuu!! fandom!
Stay tuned!
